With the 2010's best being beating by the worst of the 2010 season here in this new season of 2011, this is really turning some heads.
Starting with the Detriot Lions and their unbelievable 3-0 start to this 2011 season. A team who hasn't had an over 6 game winning record season but once in 11 years (7-9), is almost half way to their best record since 2007.
With second year quarterback Matthew Stafford, first rounder from the University of Georgia, under center, the amazing third year wide receiver Calvin Johnson, also a first rounder out of Georgia Tech, and a revamped defense Detroit Lions fans hopes are looking up.
Next we have the Buffalo Bills. In the last 10 years the Bills have been a defense based team. The have many weapons on defense but their offense always lacks. Even when pro bowl receiver Terrell Owens was there his numbers significantly dropped from 69 recs for 1,069 yds on the season with the Dallas Cowboys to 55 recs for 829 yds on the season when he joined the Bills. The Bills offense has lacked but with the pick up of the seventh year quarterback out of Harvard University, the offense is moving. Fitzpatrick coming into this season with 3000 yds passing and 23 tds, he is well on his way to surpass those numbers seeing that he already, in three games, has 841 passing yds and 9 tds thus far.
Lastly, The Oakland Raiders, once nicknamed "The World's Team", have not had a winning season in eight seasons. They were one game away in 2010 with a 8-8 record on the season. Starting 2-1 this season, they seem to be on a good trip. With their big win over the NY Jets last sunday, September 25, they are definitely making moves to make their mark in the NFL this season.
The NFL has had many unexpected happenings. These happenings are molding a NFL season that almost didn't happen into a very exciting one. I know I will stay tuned. Hope you do the same.
